Claudio Barrientos

CTO & Principal AI Researcher

Claudio Barrientos

The AI scientist and executive who turns research into real systems.

An Electrical Engineer from Universidad de Chile, with M.Sc. studies in Electrical Engineering and doctoral studies and frontier research in Photonics and Astronomy at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His scientific career includes a Fellowship at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics —Harvard University's renowned center— and research at institutions such as Instituto Balseiro. For the past 15 years he has also held undergraduate and graduate teaching positions at leading universities in Chile and abroad.

His career connects three worlds that rarely converge: scientific research, industrial artificial intelligence, and technological transformation at scale.

He founded and scaled KPMG Chile's Advanced Analytics & Big Data practice, was CIO of Agrosuper —where he led digital transformation, data, automation and artificial intelligence initiatives— and CDO of IBR Latam. He then led Honeywell's Data Science & Innovation area for Latin America and later for its global Mining Center of Excellence. He has taken part in the design, development and deployment of hundreds of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions across industries, and has led AI strategy and governance, Data Governance and GDPR practices.

At Oncoger.ai he is the technology architect of PROTEGER and leads its AI research: from cloud architecture and explainable AI to the development of models that support eligibility, dose-intensity and prognosis decisions, and the creation of agentic systems.

With dozens of peer-reviewed publications spanning astronomy, industry, mining and oncology, his responsibility is that AI does not end up merely as an algorithm or a paper: it must become a system that is explainable, auditable, governable and able to operate at scale — in the service of society and industry.

Dr. Gabriel Martínez

Director of Research

Dr. Gabriel Martínez, PhD

The researcher who knows how to take quality geriatric medicine beyond the specialist.

An internal medicine physician and geriatrician from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, PhD in Biomedical Research Methodology and Public Health from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with years of research at the Iberoamerican Cochrane Centre and Fundació ACE in Barcelona.

Gabriel co-directs the National Telegeriatrics Strategy of the Ministry of Health and leads telehealth at the Antofagasta Health Service.

His career addresses one of the structural problems that gave rise to Oncoger.ai: specialized knowledge exists, but it is not necessarily available where the patient is.

As Director of Research he brings the methodological rigor needed for every advance in PROTEGER to be evaluated, challenged and scientifically validated.

Rodrigo Venegas

Commercial Director

Rodrigo Venegas

The entrepreneur who turns health-system needs into solutions that can actually run.

A Medical Technologist with an MBA from Universidad del Desarrollo, Rodrigo has founded and led three health companies —Vidavision, Visionmas and Avanci— all built around the same challenge: the waiting lists of the Chilean health system.

His experience ranges from ophthalmology centers to care models and ambulatory surgery, combining entrepreneurship, healthcare operations and the design of new delivery models.

As Commercial Director of Oncoger.ai he brings a critical capability: understanding what a hospital actually needs in order to adopt a technology, how to fit it into its operation, how to fund it, and how to build a model that can scale.

ONE PROBLEM · FOUR PERSPECTIVES

Behind Oncoger.ai there is no technology team trying to understand medicine, nor physicians improvising in artificial intelligence.

Four scientists and entrepreneurs from different worlds, brought together by a single problem: building the capabilities a platform like PROTEGER needed in order to exist— clinical geriatric oncology, research and digital health, artificial intelligence applied at scale, and healthcare entrepreneurship.

A journey towards a geriatric oncology that is better informed, kinder, and of deep social benefit.
